Avo
Vast and varied, the Avo cigar line offers flavors as interesting as the brand’s unique origins. Though they have been in production for less than thirty years, Avo cigars have won over many cigar lovers for their superior taste and quality, and Deco Drive Cigars is no exception.
The story of the Avo cigar brand begins with Armenian jazz pianist Avo Uvezian. When his daughter was born in 1983, he went to Switzerland for her christening; after the meal that followed the christening, he tried some Cuban cigars—and, when he realized how much he was being charged for them, was outraged by the price. A friend of his suggested that they try making their own cigars; and soon afterward, Uvezian was on his way to the Dominican Republic to seek out a factory to produce his cigars.
In the Dominican Republic, Uvezian met Hendrik Kelner—a master blender whose factory is also responsible for Davidoff and Cusano cigars—and Kelner agreed to partner with him on the venture. Since then, with its reputation for consistent quality and unbeatable flavor, the Avo brand has been unstoppable. Today, the Avo brand produces close to three million cigars each year at their factory in the Cibao Valley in the Dominican Republic, and offers several lines, each with something different to offer.
The original Avo cigar, the Avo Classic, is a mild but flavorful medium-bodied cigar made with a blend of five different Dominican tobaccos and wrapped in a silky Connecticut Shade wrapper. Known for its sweet, mellow aroma and creamy flavor, its not surprising that this cigar has been and continues to be a top seller.
Other popular Avo cigars include the Avo Maduro, a more powerful version of the Classic that owes its boldness to its Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper; the Avo XO, a medium-bodied line that offers slightly more edge than the Classic or the Maduro; and the Avo Domaine, a full-bodied smoke wrapped in sun-grown Ecuadorian leaves that packs a punch.
Every year, more cigar connoisseurs realize just how exceptional Avo cigars are. Made only from the best tobacco, and crafted by a master, these cigars embody quality—which is why we carry them here at Deco Drive Cigars. Once you taste an Avo cigar, you’ll understand what we mean.
